Emerald Greens

Home is where the heart is. And this one surely falls in the lap of nature, just how we imagined it to be. Private yet open enough to touch and feel the nature. Earthful of Chikoo, Amla and Lemon trees that lived on for years on this heavenly piece of land became our outset for the planning and inception of this project.

The turf was ruled by the positioning of these trees and so was our design approach. Planning construction around these assets was like a puzzle falling in places by itself. The entry way, the verandah, the courtyard, the garden spaces all took their place in the spatial planning based on the natural topography of the site resulting in an excellent amalgamation of the Built and the Existing. The dwelling is designed in a way such that it engulfs a therapeutic courtyard and pool space, opening up to the vistas of the serene river flowing alongside the plot.

An elaborate lintel band sits as a crown to the ground floor walls in grey as a distinct feature that also acts as a hollow pot and houses the hanging climbers dropping down, accessorising the lintel and glass facade below. The amalgamation of the waterfall at the pool edge with the steps of the courtyard and verandah effortlessly integrates the ‘the built’ (the villa) and ‘the existing’ (the earth), also justifying the raised plinth with a tactful play of levels.

Not to forget the not so conventional gazebo wherein one can do anything and everything from cooking, to doing yoga, napping, bird watching, reading etc.
